Six Issues of Ern Malley's Journal were published between 1952-1955. This issue is Vol. 1 No. 4 November 1954. Editors John Reed and Barrie Reid write in the editorial: "In summing up our experience in relation to the first four issues, it is fairly obvious that at the moment there is simply not the volume of creative writing in Australia we had hoped to unearth, nor is there the type of public interest and enthusiasm which best encourages the development of talent." However to note! In this issue is a poem and review by Judith Wright (McKinney) and reproductions of paintings by Arthur Boyd.
