Further information:
"Sir James Bremer, R.N., left England in February, 1824, in command of the H.M.S. Tamar, under orders to found a new colony on the north-west coast of Australia. He took on stores and troops in Sydney, with some volunteer convicts of good character, and added two vessels to his convoy, the Countess of Harcourt and the Lady Nelson.
"Henry Ennis, supernumerary purser on the Tamar during the voyage of 1824, is not likely to be remembered at all outside the pages of his short journal.
"The text printed here, for the first time in book form, pretty much as it appeared in issues 413 to 417 of 'The Monthly Magazine', published in London from August, 1825." Kenneth Hince (from the Foreword)
