| Jan Hogan has completed a series of works based around environment and place,
specifically the place where she was living at the time in the countryside not far from
Canberra. In this work she uses the earth and charcoal to make marks to record the
landscape. Her desire is to express her connection with her place, using the landscape
to make the marks.
"Each page of 'Presence' was done on Gundaroo Common, a 200 acre plot of land put aside for villagers to raise cattle on. The artist walks on this site every day and this work is about her journeying across the land and a contemplation of who may have been here before her." Jan Hogan |
