"When I found Bella Li’s poem ‘Drowning Dream’ 2013, I knew at once it would perfectly suit the book I had made out of my flood pictures. It also gave me the opportunity to use the really huge Letraset I had inherited. I loved the long sprawling pages and the way I could draw out the sentences. I thought the colours evoked in the poetry matched those of the prints so well, and of South East Queensland in the wet when the skies are gorgeously threatening and the weather is so dramatic when it storms. Because the storms build up breathlessly, slowly the joy of the release and the relief of the cool breeze is intense." Bronwyn Rees |
