"Historically the word, Remembrancers, referred to debt collectors, reminding people of things they would rather forget. During Howard's term as Prime Minister, I believe there have been certain issues that challenged ideas on what it is to be Australian. History is integral in producing a sense of Australian-ness and tensions arise between one nationalist idea on identity and history as a 'fragmented stew' of multi-narratives, memories and experiences that is more inclusive of a multi-diverse Australian society. In this work, I have utilised combinations of iconic shapes, drawings, photographic imagery and text to explore some of these ideas, tensions and representations during Howard's historical term."
