"The aim of 'Pages' is to publicize the avant-garde, and by doing so to prove that it does not exist, except as a name. In order to be able to disseminate this name, those who have thought if necessary to to so (radio and TV, all newspapers, 'Time' magazine and the 'Literaturnaya Gazeta') have had to invent a concept to accompany it—a concept which the composer Earle Brown described in a statement to Peter Yates: 'The greatest single misrepresentation of our times is the general feeling that my kind of work is intended to be "free" of art, choice, responsibility, beauty, form, content of anything.'
The artists, composers and poets who supposedly make up the avant-garde are in fact those whose work is most relevant to our present condition, and who, as Marshall McLuhan said, have 'perfect pitch' for the zeitgeist which possesses 1970." David Briers (from the foreword)

Also includes contributions from Gianfranco Baruchello, Ben, Eugenio Carmi, Luigi Ferro, Jochen Gerz, Paul-Armand Gette, Carlos Ginzberg, Dom Sylvester Houedard, Mauricio Kagel, Gianni-Emilio Simonetti, Timm Ulrichs, Jiri Valoch.
