"Dear Miss Crozier, Where are we—January. It must be some four months since I spent a post-prandial hour (the dish had been penguin-pie) in delivering myself of the enclosed grace-a-Dieu. I am ever grateful to our poets no less than to the gods that made them for the irrelevant spice of laughter wherewith they so often season these steaming little casseroles of theirs; and of course it is in a thank-god spirit that one retires as it were from the table to the beer-and-skittles alley, where winged darts invite one's fingers and the target is that "bare butt's wincing navel," the suppurating ego of the inspired poet.—Only he who loves the target, I think, can make its navel wince..." Adrian Lawlor (letter to the editor, contributor)
Also includes contributions by Joan Masters, Sheilah Ryan, Ralph Robbie, (Tom Dimes), Brian Vrepont, Phillip Hargreaves, James Gleeson, Garry Lyle, Rosa Lemmone, Elizabeth Galloway and A. Reid. |
